“Calvary is His cathedral; the rock of Calvary is the altar stone; the sun turning to red is the sanctuary lamp; Mary and John are the living side altars; the Host is His Body; the wine is His Blood. He is upright as Priest, yet He is prostrate as Victim. His Mass is about to begin.” – Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen

What is the Altar of Calvary?
It’s an extraordinary sacred place where the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is literally offered at the foot of His cross

Graced by the crowning act of Christian worship, Stephen Cascio’s imagination intimately unifies God’s love for man in its purist form; an altar chiseled into the raw earthy stone representing Calvary; a place where our Blessed Savior offers Himself to His heavenly Father and our salvation; the same place where the beauty of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered, right at the foot of His cross. The Altar of Calvary becomes the most perfect prayer and setting of what the Catholic Mass represents and personifies.

Beautiful for any community, the Altar of Calvary is the centerpiece of a divine outdoor setting

Unlike anything ever seen or experienced, the majesty of the Altar of Calvary’s hand-polished marble visually transitions back into jagged stone and Christ’s blood-shed ground. A glistening golden-jeweled tabernacle of the Holy Eucharist lies within feet of His Crucifixion while multitude of angels surround and celebrate His glory.

Cathedral Gardens of the Son of God is a proposed Roman Catholic architectural semi-enclosed church that immerses you in humble grander, taking you back to the 12th-century. As you walk the grounds, you contemplate and become enchanted with the hints of a ruin with open sky ceilings, towering columns and reaching arches. From grand to intimate spaces, Cathedral Gardens of The Son of God integrates the beauty of Catholicism with four scriptural gardens, sacred art, prayer, meditation and the venerable Altar of Calvary accompanied by the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

Just right of the Altar of Calvary is the Garden of Gethsemame Chapel.

Jesus prayed and anguish on the Mount of Olives was so deep that his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

Returning to the disciples after prayer, he found them asleep. Jesus asked Peter: “So, could you men not keep watch with me for an hour?”

Holy Hour will be observed in this setting with the Blessed Sacrament.

Left of the Altar of Calvary is the the Garden Tomb of Jesus Chapel. The setting replicates and represents Christian worship and witness located in the heart of historic Jerusalem, just outside the Old City walls. Within this peaceful and contemplative garden is an ancient Jewish tomb, representing a replica of which many believe is the site of Jesus of Nazareth’s burial and resurrection.

Directly above Our Lord hanging on the cross, centered to the dome is Heaven in all its golden glory. Painted angels and Saints hover above you as they circle the sky, giving honor and glory to God, His Son and the Blessed Mother. This is truly a magnificent view representing the Garden of Paradise.

For the ones who love to explore, get a little closer to Heaven with a walk up to the cupola of the dome and take-in breathtaking views of the country side for miles.
